Hi! My name is Jessica and I am a Transition Year Student in Dublin. My blogs are going to be about some of my favourite movies. In each blog post I will give a summary of the movie, facts and information about the geography of the movie. I will talk about where the movie was filmed and why.

Mamma Mia! The beautiful movie of Mamma Mia is set in the Greek islands. Donna, an independent hotelier is preparing her daughters wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, 20 year old bride-to-be,  finds her mother's old diary and secretly invites three men from her mother's past in hope of meeting her real father and having him walk her down the isle on her big day. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the first movie in the amazing Harry Potter series. These mov ies are adapted from J.K R owling's series of books, which have achieved worldwide success.  Thi s movie is about a boy, Harry, who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and he himself is wizard. He is invited to attend Hogwarts, a boarding school of  Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he makes new friends and together they go on adventures where he discovers more about his parents' mysterious deaths and grows his magical powers. The cast are fantastic with brilliant actors including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith.  Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released in November 2001 and it had a budget of 130 million dollars. The Hunger Games T he Hunger Games is a brilliant series of four movies which were based from the trilogy of books "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. The movies are set in the fictional country of Panem, which was once North America. The country is divided into 12 districts and each year t he Capitol  forces them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games, where they must fight to the death. The amazing cast including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks  help make these movies  the masterpiece that they are. The first movie was filmed during the summer of 2011 with a budget of 78 million dollars. The movie was filmed entirely in North Carolina. The arena where the games were held was filmed DuPont State Forest. This was a brilliant choice as the rugged landscape, huge pine trees and rushing waterfalls were the perfect forest setting ....
